My Not-so-green Green Smoothie Recipe

Hello everyone!

You might think that this is not appropriate for a beauty blog, but let me tell you... it's more than appropriate. Let me remind you of my post Beautiful skin on a healthy body, where I talked about all the things you can do to make your skin healthy, but from the inside. This is another recipe like that.

Now, this past week, my boyfriend was visiting and when he visits, we tend to eat something like this:

Now, I am not saying that it wasn't amazing! This was one of the best hamburgers I ever ate, but after a week of eating like this, I felt like I need something green, haha. So, whenever you feel like your skin is a bit dull, or you've eaten a lot of fried foods or fast foods or whatever you feel is not the healthiest option, just mix up a little something like what I'm about to show you, and you're good to go.

What you will need to make my smoothie:

1 banana
juice of 1/2 of a lemon
frozen berries (I don't really measure it, but about a handful)
some leafy greens- lamb's lettuce, baby spinach... (I used lamb's lettuce today)
2 teaspoons honey
about 500 mL of water (just keep pouring more until you have the desired amount and consistency)
a mixer or a blender
a container you're going to mix everything in

Step one:

Slice one banana into thin slices and pour lemon juice (of 1/2 of a lemon) over the banana slices, so that the banana doesn't oxidize while you're preparing everything else.

Step two:

Add about a handful of frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, what have you).

Step three:

Then add your leafy greens. I added about two handfuls of lamb's lettuce, but I use spinach, too. All you have to do next is add water (just make sure you don't fill it up to the brim, because it will go everywhere (trust me)) and start mixing. After everything is almost entirely mixed up, add two teaspoons of honey and mix for another minute, so that honey dissolves and you're done!

Now you can take a straw, sit back, rewind a little and enjoy your healthy snack/meal/dessert/whatever (for me it was desert today, haha).

I may look like a scare crow, sorry about that, but it was after a very long day, so just bare with me.

Of course, you can put in your smoothie whatever you like. I used to put apples in, but I didn't really like the texture of it so I leave it out now.

Do you like drinking smoothies? Will you try my recipe? What do you put in yours? Send me pictures! :)

    1. I don't really like the idea of mixing greens and lemon with milk :D Maybe it's just me, but honey makes it taste great, as well as the berries... Also, almond milk is not really totally accessible in Croatia, and it's quite expensive when I can find it, so for now I'm going to stick to water :) but thank you for the advice xx
