How I Contour My Face

Hello everyone!

Today I am bringing you a tutorial on contouring. I am not by any means saying that this is how it's supposed to be done. I am just saying that this is how I do it.

Contouring has been a great hit for quite some time now, and about a year ago I started doing it as well. It is usually done with cream products, but I like to use powder (a matte bronzer), since I feel like that way you have more control and you can blend more easily. Here is what I use:

It's a bronzer by Makeup Revolution in Medium Matte.


So, to start off, I applied the Catrice Prime and Fine makeup primer (a review may or may not come soon, but just a heads up, I am not impressed) and then I applied my Maybelline Affinitone liquid foundation. When I know I will contoure a bit more than usual, I like to use a foundation that is slightly lighter than my skin tone (1-2 shades), and after I'm done, it's very even and bright.

Then, I started applying bronzer. Now, the bronzer I use is a bit warm tones, which you may want to avoid, but this one is not too warm toned, and I think it works great with my skin tone. Also, I did exaggerate it a little bit, just so that it shows a bit better in the pictures:

Under apples of my cheeks, to make my cheeks bigger.

On my temples to add dimension to my face.

On the sides of my forehead to make it nicely shaped.

As well as on the top of my forehead.

Under my jaw bone, to make it stand out less (it can also help to visually remove double chin).

On the sides of the nose (I usually don't use this, because my nose is quite long and thin) to make it seem thinner.

Under the lower lip, to make it seem bigger.

After applying bronzer I added a lighter shade (than my skin tone) of concealer under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, on my forehead (where I didn't apply bronzer) and on my chin.

Then I blended the concealer and put some very light pressed powder on top of it (much lighter than my skin tone), but since I blended that quite well, I didn't look dead haha!

After doing that, I applied some pressed powder (the one that actually matches my skin tone) on all the places I didn't apply the light powder and completed my look with some blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and brows :)

This was my look of the night:

And that's it! It's not hard at all, and you can do only those parts that will help you and your face features. You don't have to do all the steps I just did. Also, there are various products you can use for contouring... you can even use a matte brown-ish eyeshadow.

It is all up to you :) Makeup is a game, and you can do whatever you want, experiment and find what suits you best :)
