Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask || REVIEW

Hello everyone!

Today I have  a new review for you! This face mask is something I constantly rave about to my friends and family, so of course I have to share it with you.

What is it?
It is an Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask. It comes in a squeezy tube with 75ml of product, which is enough for plenty of uses, and you can get it for $6.99 (currently on sale for $5.99) here.

What Avon claims?

This pore-penetrating mask contains an oil-absorbing blend of mineral clays that attracts and effectively removes pore-clogging oil like a magnet. Provides a cooling sensation as it changes from black to light grey to indicate it is ready to be rinsed off. Leaves skin feeling clean, soft and smooth. Light, pleasant scent. Suitable for all skin types.

Some of the ingredients:

Salicylic acid 0.5%
Hydrated silica - a mild abrasive
Bentonite - one of the most effective and powerful healing clays
Glycerin
Magnesium Aluminum Silicate - white clay
Camellia sinensis leaf extract - green tea extract
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract - antibacterial

It does contain alcohol, and perfume, which is at the very bottom of the ingredients list.

How I use it?

Whenever I feel my face has become dull, I start having random breakouts, black heads start to appear on my cheeks and my forehead, I know it's time to take out this secret weapon of mine. I wet my face (assuming I'm starting with a clear face), and I apply quite a generous amount of this mask on my face. I like to apply it so that it doesn't look too transparent on my skin. The mask is black, but as it dries on the skin, it turns this light grey colour.

I like to wait until there are no more dark spots on my face (except for the ones caused by all the yuck from my face), no matter how long it takes. It starts to feel a bit tight after a while. I then remove it with a hot, wet towel and then rinse my face in cold water. Hydration is the key after removing the mask. A lot of it.

Do I think it lives up to its claims?

Absolutely! However, I don't think it's the best for super dry skin, since it is a bit drying. However, if your skin is normal, or oily, there is nothing to worry about, as long as you hydrate afterwards. I think the photo showing how much dirt and blackheads and clogging oils it pulled from my pores is the best proof that it actually works.

My skin really does feel really smooth and soft after using it, but the scent I wouldn't exactly call light and pleasant. To me it's kind of stinky, but it's not overwhelming at all, so I don't really mind. Also, I'm not too sure about the cooling sensation, but I don't mind that, either. As long as I see the results, I'm happy.

Final thoughts

This is definitely one of my holy grail skincare products. My first tube is almost finishes, and I was absolutely positive that I had a back up, but I can't find it anywhere, so I don't have the box it came in to show you. However, if you can get it, do it! I'm sure you'll like it, especially if you tend to get black heads and your skin tends to clog a lot. And the price tag is pretty cool for a product like that. An amazing product definitely worth a try!

Have you tried this product? Have you heard of it? Do you know any similar products? What is your holy grail face mask?

Thank you for reading!
See you soon xx
